Charity is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the practice owner of Ascend Counseling and Neurotherapy since 2014. She received her Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2012 and a degree in Psychology in 1998. Although Charity works with all ages, she is passionate about helping young adults navigate into adulthood, this includes late teens and early to mid twenties, with a combination of unconditional support and skills training for interacting with today's society. She has been certified in the use of Neurotherapy since 2011 and became EMDR trained in 2017 to best serve those who have experienced events in their lives that they feel hold them back from reaching their most genuine self. Charity specializes in helping ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Insomnia, and Stress Tolerance. She uses a combination of neurofeedback with her EMDR techniques to work with the brain, mind and body towards complete wellness. She is a member of the Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, as well as the American Counseling Association.

Practice Owner & Therapist
An experiential therapist, Joana believes that change is best achieved through experience. Specializing in young adults and young-at-heart adults, she combines this approach with her skills in EMDR and neurofeedback to address brain, mind, and body regarding all manner of mental health concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional distress, substance abuse, and transitional issues. Joana graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a Masters in Clinical Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy in 2017. She is a fully-trained EMDR therapist with specialized training in Neurofeedback therapy and Sandtray therapy.

Adilah is a warm, experienced therapist who values the client's autonomy for change to aid in their personal journey. She utilizes a person-centered approach to trauma work with an emphases on the counseling relationship. She also has experience with CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy): an approach to PTSD for sexual, physical, and relational abuse. Adilah has become familiar with how untreated trauma effects our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. She specializes in PTSD, Domestic/ Relational Abuse, Depression, Anxiety, Suicidality, Safety Planning, and Stress Management. Adilah is an LPC-A and graduated in 2020 with a Master’s of Science in Counseling. She is proficient in providing a warm and safe space for Counseling whether that be in- person or Telehealth. Adilah is interested in working more with the LGBTQ+ population, individuals with sexual addiction, difficulties in sexual performance, or history of relational violence.
Jason Cravens, LMFT-A, LCDC
Supervisor: Paul Jurek, PhD, LMFT-S
Jason is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. While Mr. Cravens is highly trained and experienced with providing counseling services, his areas of specialty are with aiding families and couples that are working through trauma, infidelity, and substance use. He also has experience treating clients through individual counseling with a focus on sexual abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
Maddie Nutt is a TWU intern getting her Masters of Counseling & Development and Graduate Certificate in Multicultural Woman & Gender Studies. Maddie has an interest in helping others process through past traumas through a person-centered, feminist approach with a practice is rooted in radical inclusion. This means she is committed to honor every client with dignity and celebrate diversity.
No matter the stories you bring in or the identities that you hold, Maddie’s aim is to create a safe space for you to find healing. She has experience working with clients of all ages, from littles to the more-seasoned. She has worked with interpersonal violence survivors, LGBTQ+ populations, and those experiencing faith deconstruction or spiritual abuse.

Katy Sutton is a passionate and efficient individual with a keen eye for detail. In 2021, she earned her Bachelor’s in Rehabilitation Studies, double minoring in Sociology and Psychology. She is currently a graduate student at the University of North Texas in the Rehabilitation Counseling program. Katy values individual autonomy and understands that one’s mental health is an individual’s cornerstone for functioning. She enjoys assisting others in living their most fulfilling life possible and plans on pursuing her LPC-A in the Fall of 2023.
